The University of Oklahoma's $160 million football stadium expansion debuted some of its recently completed renovations for the Sooners' opening 2016 season. Included are the newly enclosed South end zone which increased capacity from 82,112 to 83,489, a sun canopy, field-view concessions, plazas, premium club spaces and a new larger video board.

The entire OU Stadium expansion was designed by Populous, a global architectural firm specializing in the design of sports facilities, arenas and convention centers, as well as the planning of major special events. One of the three Populous architects on the project is, Anna Price, an OU alumn whose grandfather also worked on the construction of the original OU football stadium.

Construction was by Flintco of Austin, TX.  Flintco specializes in commercial and institutional construction throughout the U.S.

Bentley Flooring's claim to Sooner fame is that we were awarded the flooring installation contract for the carpeting and Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) in the second and third level club rooms of the new stadium. LVT utilizes 3D printing technology, which adds depth, realism, and durability with a high performance wearlayer to a vinyl tile product.  LVT is extremely easy to clean and maintain. The flooring shown below was covered with construction dust, footprints and debris when our photographer arrived. All it took was a mop and bucket, and within a short time it looked like new.

One of the highlights of this project was that the second floor club level was originally an outside concourse with large concrete areas sloped for drainage. We had to grind down the high spots and use 458 bags of self-leveler to fill in the low spots to provide a very flat, smooth sub floor.  We subcontracted this portion to Ardor Solutions.

Bentley Flooring will also be installing flooring for the next phase of renovations to be completed Spring 2017.  This will include new locker rooms, coaches' offices, meeting rooms, weight room, nutrition and training rooms. Stay tuned for our next "installation"!
