The College of Human Services employs a multidisciplinary approach among its departments of Design, Housing and Merchandising; Human Development and Family Science; Nutritional Sciences — and the School of Hotel and Restaurant Administration.  Its overall goal is to address the challenges faced by individuals, families and communities and to enhance human well-being and quality of life.

The master plan and design is by DLR Group in collaboration with partner firm LWPB. It calls for multi-phased additions and renovations of a 76,700 SF academic building, and the new third wing addition adds three floors of instructional, collaborative, and experiential learning spaces. Special features include cutting-edge classrooms and a 350-seat auditorium, a 2,500 sq. ft. professional partners suite, conferencing venues and renovated dining spaces. These allow students, faculty, industry and community partners to gather and collaborate in ways not before possible. Other additions are child development labs, teaching food preparation laboratories, science laboratories, design galleries, CERT and WP4 Labs.

The new wing, constructed by CMS Willowbrook, consolidates programs previously scattered across campus into a single academic building. It is organized around a three-story Great Hall which showcases the current activities of all departments and includes technology-rich learning spaces.

Bentley Flooring salutes DLR Group, LWPB and CMS Willowbrook for their extraordinary work in fostering the mission of the College of Human Services by creating the structure to support the programs that will truly contribute to human-kind in so many ways. It is a privilege to work with all of you.
